PADI OPEN WATER DIVER COURSE
Congratulations! You have made the decision to become involved in a fun, exciting and relaxing activity. Thank you for choosing Aqua Hut for your scuba training. The PADI Open Water Diver course is your entry into the exciting underwater world. Being a scuba diver allows you to see beautiful creatures and make life-long friends. This course will familiarize you with the proper skills, equipment, and safety procedures needed to adapt to and enjoy the underwater world.
There are three components to the Open Water Diver Course, with a variety of options for completing them:
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE? The first two components of Open Water certification can be completed in one weekend!
2020 Class/Pool Dates: Haverford YMCA: 11/7-8, 12/5-6
Sat. am (exact time TBA): Meet at the store to take a short quiz and get suited up for pool sessions.
Sat. 12:30-4:30pm: Confined Water Skills at YMCA pool
Sun. 12:30-3:30pm Confined Water Skills at YMCA pool (if needed)
2021 Dutch Springs Weekends: TBD
HOW CAN I GET STARTED? Please sign up online, then call or come in to register for pool sessions.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
PADI E-learning: Approx. $195, includes required log book
Group Pool Sessions: $209 ($50 deposit requested at sign-up.)
Private/Semi-priv pool sessions: One student $459 / 2-3 students $399 each / 4 or more $359 each
Open Water Dives: $259.00 4 dives, instruction, equipment, certification card
Dutch Springs* Entrance Fee: $48 per day (subject to change) *if you do you your dives locally
WILL THERE BE HOMEWORK?
Yes, but only a little. Before our class sessions we ask that you view the flash drive video & read the appropriate chapter(s) in your manual. Complete the knowledge review at the end of each chapter & bring to class. In class you will also complete 4 quizzes and a final exam. E-learners complete academics on line & take brief quiz in the store Saturday morning.
DO I HAVE TO BE A STRONG SWIMMER? WHAT ABOUT MEDICAL ISSUES? ARE THERE AGE RESTRICTIONS?
You should be at ease in the water and in general good health. There will be an evaluation of swimming skills at the first pool session. You must also complete a medical statement and, if necessary, obtain a physician’s approval before participation in the course. You can download this form at www.Aquahut.net. Children as young as 10 may participate after consultation with our Instructional staff.
WHAT MATERIALS DO I NEED? Each student needs a log book.
HOW ABOUT EQUIPMENT?
We ask that each student have mask & snorkel. Total cost $75-$100. Students receive 10% discount at Aqua Hut. For the first session in addition to mask & snorkel, please bring a towel, swimsuit, your workbook, logbook and a pen.
