PADI Continuing Education
Continue the Adventure with Continuing Education courses. The next steps toward becoming a safer, better diver include the Advanced Open Water & Rescue Diver courses. We offer these courses classes locally at Dutch Springs May through October. You may also complete the open water dives for any course on one of our many dive trips.
Adventure Diver / Advanced Open Water Diver
This Advanced Open Water Diver course increases your diving skills and ability to dive in a wider variety of environments. The course may be completed in 2 days and consists of five dives, including Deep and Navigation and 3 elective dives of your choosing. Interested in Marine Life ID? U/W Photography? Wreck Diving? Want to improve your buoyancy skills? The Advanced Open Water Diver Course is for you!
Just as in the PADI Open Water Diver Course, you may complete the academic portion of the course online. Sign up using the link below. Pre-requisite: PADI Open Water Diver or qualifying certification from another training organization. Emergency First Response & Rescue Diver
The Emergency First Responder Course (EFR) is the prerequisite for the Rescue Diver Course. The EFR course will only take one evening to complete, but you have to do your homework before the class. Upon completion participants will know how to provide Primary and Secondary Care, CPR as well as use an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED). The course is taught at our dive center.
The Rescue Diver Course is a must for any serious diver. You will learn how to recognize and avoid potential problems, self-rescue techniques and ways to assist a diver in trouble on the surface or underwater. Any parent diving with their children should become Rescue-certified. Check our calendar for dates and times. Prerequisites: 12 Years of Age, Advanced Open Water or qualifying certification from another training organization, 20 Logged Dives, successful completion of Emergency First Response course or other approved CPR course. Specialty Courses
A good diver is always learning! Specialty Courses allow you to explore your own particular interests and develop new skills to expand your underwater adventures. Most specialty courses can be completed in one or 2 days, either locally or on our trips and some may be completed online. Please contact us for more information.

Aware Fish Identification Diver: Learn basic fish identification along with surveying techniques & the importance of personal involvement in aquatic environment conservation.
Boat Diver: Learn the techniques and procedures for safe, comfortable and enjoyable diving from different types of boats. Perfect your giant stride entry, gain knowledge in boat diving etiquette, and learn how to assemble your equipment in a confined space.
Deep Diver: Some of the most breathtaking dive sites like walls and wrecks are found at depths greater than 100 feet. Let us teach you the additional planning and consideration necessary to safely and efficiently dive to 130 feet.
Digital Underwater Photography: Learn the basics of digital underwater photography such as equipment preparation, environmentally friendly photo techniques, and of course, how to get great shots. The course is divided into 2 levels. The requirements for Level 1 include 2 class sessions & 1 (in pool or open water). Level 1 involves basic dive & shooting techniques. Level 2 involves more advanced shooting techniques as well as basic composition & editing techniques.
The requirements for Level 2 include an additional open water dive and a workshop, which includes downloading, backing up & viewing images using a method other than the camera LCD monitor. You must complete Level 1 before going on to Level 2.
Diver Propulsion Vehicles: Learn diver propulsion vehicle dive planning organization, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards, as well as equipment considerations, diver etiquette and how to avoid harming fragile aquatic life.
Drift Diver: Get the most out of your drift diving experience; learn the best ways to stay with your buddy or group, how to judge the currents, and special navigation and buoyancy techniques.
Dry Suit Diver: Dry Suit diving adds to both your time underwater and the length of your diving season. In this course you will gain experience in proper buoyancy procedures as well routine maintenance and performance checks for your dry suit.
Equipment Specialist: Scuba diving is an equipment intensive recreation, so it is important to familiarize yourself with the operation and maintenance of your equipment. In this course, you will learn the theory, principles and operation of diving equipment as well as routine, recommended care and maintenance procedures and equipment storage.
Multi-level Diver: Learn how to plan dives that extend your bottom time by crediting you for slower nitrogen absorption when you ascend to a shallower depth. That’s the way you really dive, after all.
First Aid for Hazardous Marine Life Injuries: This course provides knowledge regarding specific types of marine creature injuries, how to avoid them, and the general first aid treatment.
Night Diver: You'll learn night dive planning, organization, procedures, techniques and how to manage potential problems. Since many of the plants and animals you'll see are different, you'll also get an introduction to nocturnal aquatic life.
Nitrox (EAN) Diver: EAN Nitrox or Enriched Air is air with a kick of extra Oxygen, which, with special procedures, can significantly and safely increase your bottom time. If you dive to 15 metres/50 feet on air, your no decompression limit is 80 minutes. But, diving on EANx36 gets you 220 minutes of no decompression time - an increase of 140 minutes! Plus, by diving with Enriched Air you may feel less tired on your vacation.

Oxygen Provider: (Open to divers as well as non-divers). This 4-hour course will familiarize you with the different types of oxygen delivery systems and give you the skills necessary to assist an injured diver.
