We run continuing education classes locally at Dutch Springs Quarry May through October. You may also complete the open water dives for any course on one of our many dive trips.


This certification will expand your diving opportunities by qualifying you to participate in more technically advanced dives like Jersey wreck dives, cave dives and much more!
Begin by going over course materials on your own. Then, meet with your instructor for a brief review and complete three dives from the following list for the Adventure Diver certification. Advanced certification requires the deep and navigation dives as well as 3 others of your choice (we highly recommend Peak Performance Buoyancy for new divers).
Pre-requisite: PADI Open Water Diver or qualifying certification from another training organization.

The Emergency First Responder Course (EFR) is the prerequisite for the Rescue Diver Course. The EFR course will only take one evening to
complete, but you have to do your homework before the class. Upon
completion participants will know how to provide Primary and Secondary
Care, CPR as well as use an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED). The course is taught at our dive center. The course fee is $125, and
includes class materials & certification card. Participants only need to purchase oxygen masks, which typically range in price from $10 to
$25 dollars plus tax.

March 3rd from 6pm to 10pm.

Sharpen your dive skills while learning how to handle a wide range of dive accidents and emergencies. This certification is a prerequisite to achieve the Master Scuba Diver rating as well as for all leadership and professional level training. The course consists of 1 class session, 1 pool session and 1 day of Open Water Training.
Prerequisites: 12 Years of Age, Advanced Open Water or qualifying certification from another training organization, 20 Logged Dives, successful completion of Emergency First Response course or other approved CPR course.
Class for August will be held in the pool at JCC on the 28th and at Dutch on the 29th and/or the 30th in the afternoon.
Cost: $299 includes textbook with slate. Full scuba equipment ($50 rental fee) as well as a Pocket Mask with Oxygen Port is required.

Choose a few of the courses that get you excited about going in the water. Then, you’ll gain an in depth understanding of each dive activity you choose through a mixture of class, pool and dive training. Below you will find the requirements for each specialty. Specialties in bold can be done locally at the shop or Dutch Springs Quarry. Click on the course for more information.
Cost: $30 per class, pool or dive session unless otherwise noted.
NOTES: In addition to equipment requirements stated above, each diver needs full scuba equipment (unless otherwise noted). Student Equipment Rental rate is $50 for weekend.
Aware Fish Identification Diver: Learn basic fish identification along with surveying techniques & the importance of personal involvement in aquatic environment conservation.
Boat Diver: Learn the techniques and procedures for safe, comfortable and enjoyable diving from different types of boats. Perfect your giant stride entry, gain knowledge in boat diving etiquette, and learn how to assemble your equipment in a confined space.
Deep Diver: Some of the most breathtaking dive sites like walls and wrecks are found at depths greater than 100 feet. Let us teach you the additional planning and consideration necessary to safely and efficiently dive to 130 feet.
Digital Underwater Photography: Learn the basics of digital underwater photography such as equipment preparation, environmentally friendly photo techniques, and of course, how to get great shots. The course is divided into 2 levels. The requirements for Level 1 include 2 class sessions & 1 (in pool or open water). Level 1 involves basic dive & shooting techniques. Level 2 involves more advanced shooting techniques as well as basic composition & editing techniques.
The requirements for Level 2 include an additional open water dive and a workshop, which includes downloading, backing up & viewing images using a method other than the camera LCD monitor. You must complete Level 1 before going on to Level 2.
Costs for Level 1 & Level 2 if taken separately are $100 per level. If taken together the cost is $150. Required academic materials are $25 for manual & $19.95 for DVD. Camera rental (if needed) is not included.
Diver Propulsion Vehicles: Learn diver propulsion vehicle dive planning organization, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards, as well as equipment considerations, diver etiquette and how to avoid harming fragile aquatic life.
Drift Diver: Get the most out of your drift diving experience; learn the best ways to stay with your buddy or group, how to judge the currents, and special navigation and buoyancy techniques.
Dry Suit Diver: Dry Suit diving adds to both your time underwater and the length of your diving season. In this course you will gain experience in proper buoyancy procedures as well routine maintenance and performance checks for your dry suit.
Equipment Specialist: Scuba diving is an equipment intensive recreation, so it is important to familiarize yourself with the operation and maintenance of your equipment. In this course, you will learn the theory, principles and operation of diving equipment as well as routine, recommended care and maintenance procedures and equipment storage.
Multi-level Diver: Learn how to plan dives that extend your bottom time by crediting you for slower nitrogen absorption when you ascend to a shallower depth. That’s the way you really dive, after all.
First Aid for Hazardous Marine Life Injuries: This course provides knowledge regarding specific types of marine creature injuries, how to avoid them, and the general first aid treatment.
Night Diver: You'll learn night dive planning, organization, procedures, techniques and how to manage potential problems. Since many of the plants and animals you'll see are different, you'll also get an introduction to nocturnal aquatic life.
Nitrox (EAN) Diver: EAN Nitrox or Enriched Air is air with a kick of extra Oxygen, which, with special procedures, can significantly and safely increase your bottom time. If you dive to 15 metres/50 feet on air, your no decompression limit is 80 minutes. But, diving on EANx36 gets you 220 minutes of no decompression time - an increase of 140 minutes! Plus, by diving with Enriched Air you may feel less tired on your vacation.

Oxygen Provider: (Open to divers as well as non-divers). This 4-hour course will familiarize you with the different types of oxygen delivery systems and give you the skills necessary to assist an injured diver.
Course Fee: $115 includes DAN Oxygen Provider Text, DAN Certification, and PADI Certification. Additional required equipment: Pocket Mask with Oxygen Port.
Peak Performance Buoyancy Diver: Learn how to fine-tune your weighting, how to maintain neutral buoyancy, and how to adjust your weights for different diving situations.
Search and Recovery Diver: Learn how to find and bring to the surface objects of all shapes and sizes. You will practice specialized navigation skills, search patterns, and safe recovery procedures.
Underwater Naturalist: Explore the intricate animals and ecosystems of the underwater world, and learn eco-friendly diving practices that will help minimize your impact on aquatic environments.
Underwater Navigator: Learn how to flawlessly relocate your favorite dive site and, more importantly, how to find your way back to the anchor line to avoid long surface swims.
Wreck Diver: Learn how to explore these relics safely. You'll learn proper planning and organization, specialized techniques and equipment, safety procedures and more.
